Ana Self lives in northern Georgia with her sons, a menagerie of dogs, a handful of chickens, a grumpy cat, and a husband who still isn’t quite sure how it all happened.

Ana developed the love of storytelling sitting on the front porch of her great-grandmother’s farmhouse. The long wooden porch was where the summer farm chores turned into story time.

Through Mama Green’s skillfully told stories, Ana learned to read the signs in nature, the trials of animal care, and endless tips on surviving the challenges of life.

The most profound lesson she learned on those hot humid afternoons with Mama Green was the power of a story told well. Nothing short of magic could make shucking corn or snapping beans enjoyable.

Ana started dreaming of writing at sixteen. Years passed, but a promise to her father-in-law finally pulled those dreams into action. That first novel opened the door to several more.

When she’s not writing, Ana loves spending time with her family, chasing dogs, wrangling chickens, and retreating to Alaska every year to reset, breathe, and recharge.
